Al-Qaim School – Pakistan

WWEP activity: Classroom supplies

Working in partnership with the Islamic Unity Society, WWEP provided educational supplies to support the construction of Al-Qaim School in Basti Sarghani, a rural village, in District Layyah, Pakistan.

This village was one of the hardest hit by the catastrophic Pakistan floods of 2010. The children of this village, Basti Sarghani, are currently without an education; government schools are overcrowded and private schools located too far away. Al-Qaim school was founded by a village elder who donated his own land; however there is no proper school building, classes take place in the heat, on floor mats and without any proper furniture.

This project aims to provide a comprehensive formal education to the poor and orphaned children of Basti Sarghani by constructing a safe school infrastructure.
